The NCFC Juniors Program falls within the Discover Phase of our Player Development Phases (PDP). In these training sessions, players will be encouraged to be with a ball as much as possible. All sessions in the Discover Phase will have a ball per player for at least 75% of the training session so they begin to feel comfortable on the ball.

The emphasis will be on teaching our younger players how to move and manipulate the ball. NCFC want to develop players who are confident and comfortable with the ball at their feet. We will also expose the players to game realistic scenarios that will develop their dribbling and scoring (shooting) skills. This will come in the form of 1 vs. 1 situations, and various fun activities with a focus on learning proper dribbling and kicking technique. With more touches on the ball, their skill development will progress faster and this will build a strong foundation for the latter stages of athlete development, including playing as a team. Small-sided games and scrimmages will ONLY be introduced in the U5/U6 age groups.

COACHING

Our program director will work closely with NCFC Junior Trainers and Parent Coaches to run group activities, skills training and small sided games each week.

Parents may volunteer as a Coach to assist with running the weekly activities and will receive a $50 refund at the end of the season.

VOLUNTEERING

North Calgary FC is run mainly by our outstanding volunteers!

Our Juniors program requires volunteers for the following positions:

  • Parent coach - assist the NCFC Juniors coaches by running the week's activities for your child's group
  • Snack/Refreshment coordinator - coordinate a drink/snack schedule among the parents for your child's group to keep them hydrated during their sessions
  • Uniform coordinator - help handing out uniforms at the start of season to all players at your specific location
  • Field Manager - help direct players to their appropriate groups, answer questions or act as liaison between the parents and club management

FUNDING

We believe that every child should have the opportunity to play.

Do you need help with funding for your child's registration fees? Both Kidsport and Jumpstart are here to help keep kids in the game.  They do not apply the funding to technical training fees, but North Calgary FC has payment plans to help you out.  Contact Us to find out more.
